Object Oriented Programming isn’t Good

Object Oriented Programming (OOP) adds more complexity and doesn’t help in
making good software, instead:

OOP asserts a working model

OOP is popular

OOP is non-falsifiable

And this means it’s less of a tool and more of a style. Styles are cultural and
serve different purposes than pure efficiency or producing quality. This style
of OOP imitates consistency, but nothing more.

Stackoverflow has sucked for a while

It was great when it came out: it filled the niche that was weirdly
difficult to fill on the web.

“What’s the right answer to this question?”

Things changed, and by June 29, 2020 Stackoverflow wasn’t really the same, and
resorted to pumping out blogspam that no one reads (as opposed to my “nonspam”
that no one reads. “Artisanal nothing”)

You see, they can no longer format numbered lists: we forgot how to count past
1, and use the default features of HTML

The second is: aggressive
strategies are usually better than reactive strategies.

Parameter Arrays are Bad Abstractions

Don’t set a bunch of data in a row like
[1, "new", False]
and just to pass it
to a function and expect it to behave well.

If you’ve ever had to set or unset a bunch of parameters sequentially you’ve
probably been tempted to jam it into an array and call it done. Avoiding the
dreaded parameter list is noble, but consider that what you are about to do is
a terrible idea.

Setting up a Godot CI/CD Server

I’ve been trying out the Godot game engine, and I’m starting to really like it:
Godot is pretty intuitive, it natively supports and sets up git, it’s not too
hard to understand the core principles, and a growing group of creators is using
it to create stuff and sharing their work.

Godot doesn’t exactly line up with how I like to do things, but usually it’s
not difficult to learn.

So I decided to automate my builds!

The most threatening thing about them is
often that they could be right, and you might be just like them.

I’m here to show you pitfalls
in goal setting, and hopefully set you straight.

Focus on what you want to achieve, and it will happen.

I’ll rehash the SMART Goal system, and show few tricks to reorient your
goals to make them more effective for growth.
