Hugo Lacks SCSS

Hugo’s Missing Parts

Hugo doesn’t support SCSS, which is really a shame for me. The Hugo community does have plenty of support for Themes and CSS, but if you want to build themes or use materials from other SCSS frameworks you’re on your own.

Material Has Upgraded

New Year New You

Material just got an upgrade. For the website ostensibly focused on design this website and the related libraries around it have been something of a mess. I haven’t mentioned it yet, but working with the Material style library is something of a chore. This is in-part because of rather poor documentation, incomplete features, and bad supplementary libraries — the Material icon library that the documentation points to is riddled with missing icons, and yet they still show up as if you’re the one that messed up when they’re not there.

With Style

Style!

In a previous article we set up Hugo, and got it running locally. If you didn’t do any styling, or download a Hugo theme, then your site probably looks pretty sad right now. In this article, I’ll go through how you can get SCSS and Material up and running for your Hugo site.
